About Nucleo
Nucleo is an initiative of Malaga City Council, driven by Promalaga, which reinforces the city's role as one of the main technological innovation hubs in Europe. Conceived as Malaga's semiconductor innovation hub, Nucleo expands and specializes the local ecosystem in a strategic area for industrial and digital development. Following the model of the National Digital Content Hub, it offers training, incubation, acceleration and specialized investment in microelectronics, photonics and in the future, quantum. This project strengthens Malaga's role as a benchmark technology hub in Europe, enhancing its ability to attract talent, companies and high-value investment.

The European Chips Design Platform, coordinated by imec, helps startups, SMEs and research teams access design tools, intellectual property (IP), prototyping, training and expert support.
Its Venture Development Programme supports fabless IC design startups through Incubate and Accelerate, with mentoring and investor connections, without taking equity.

EU Business Hub will select up to 50 European SMEs and startups in the semiconductor sector to join a business mission to Tokyo and exhibit at the EU Pavilion during SEMICON Japan, a trade show attracting more than 103,000 visitors.
The programme includes tailored B2B matchmaking, market intelligence, cultural and language support, exhibition fee coverage, four hotel nights (up to €1,000 per company) and up to €1,000 for co-funded customised services.

On June 2, Nucleo hosted a session led by Matt Venn, creator of Tiny Tapeout, focused on digital chip design with open-source tools.
The final report highlights 50 attendees, 44 submitted tapeouts and an average participant rating of 4.7 out of 5.
